why a humandoctor?

The name of this site is a reminder that doctors are humans.  Doctors are imperfect. We make mistakes, we have our own families, our own passions, our own biases.  These realities impact our patient care whether we and our patients know it or not. Similarly, being a doctor impacts how we think and behave as humans, and colors how we view the world and its problems.

It is "a" humandoctor because this site is being started by one of many human doctors that exist.  Hopefully others will join!

Finally, it is a humANDoctor.  The words are inseparable.  Perhaps medicine, and ultimately society, are better off when doctors are able to be that close to their humanity in practice too.
